Stillness has been the center of many religions and is currently the center of health care. Stillness
can be called many things such as meditation, yoga, quit time, and prayer. Mindfulness (a type of
meditation) is cultivating nonjudgmental awareness of thoughts and emotions. It has been used by
many individuals to connect with their higher self and numerous others experiencing health
conditions of the mind and body (cancer, heart disease, anxiety disorders, and depressive
disorders). Mindfulness can boost the immune system, improve attention, cognitive performance,
and emotional control. It can also decrease blood pressure, stress, pain, sadness, and worry. The
power of stillness returns us to love, health, clarity, truth, and oneness.
